XR Trends 2025: The Best Secrets from UnitedXR

ARkadi Jeghiazaryan (Amlogy) and ARman Atoyan (ARLOOPA) trying the new META Ray-Ban Display glasses

10 years ago, people would constantly ask me: „Arkadi, is AR/VR ever gonna be usable without a smartphone?“

Standing in the bustling halls of Brussels this week, surrounded by the electric energy of UnitedXR Europe, that question felt like a distant memory. The answer isn’t just „yes“ – it is a resounding „It’s already happening.“

For the first time in a decade, I felt that authentic „buzz“ of early innovation returning. But this time, it’s not just hype. From Christmas trees packed with VR headsets to tech giants investing billions, the landscape has shifted permanently. If everyone is looking at AI, they are missing the massive revolution happening right here in XR Trends 2025.

What to expect in this article:

  • Exclusive Insights: Key takeaways from 2 exciting days at UnitedXR Europe.
  • The Hardware Race: Why smart glasses like Meta Ray-Bans are just the beginning.
  • Market Shifts: How funding and use cases are evolving beyond VR training.
  • Case Study: How Amlogy’s award-winning „HowARd Cube“ proves mass-market readiness.
  • Your Opportunity: How to leverage these trends for your brand or institution.

The Pulse of Innovation

Spending two days at UnitedXR Europe (a joint venture by AWE and Stereopsia) was a revelation. From inspiring panels to the fantastic Networking Breakfast at ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA BeLux (huge kudos to XR Austria for the organization!), it is clear that institutions are finally ready to implement XR on a full scale.

Here are the critical XR Trends 2025 that every educational institution and brand needs to know:

1. Hardware is Accelerating at Warp Speed

New AR smart glasses are entering the market faster than ever. While the current Meta Ray-Ban glasses are „smart“ display glasses rather than fully AR-capable, they are the perfect entry point for mainstream usage. The Meta team is pushing boundaries to bring full AR glasses to market soon. The race to replace the smartphone is officially on between giants like Meta, Google, Apple, and Snapchat.

2. Snap Inc. is Dominating AR Utility

The numbers are staggering: 350 million daily AR users (!!!) generating 8 billion interactions per day (!!!). This proves one thing: AR is no longer a „nice-to-have gimmick.“ It has become a core utility tool for brands and institutions to engage audiences globally.

3. Funding is Flowing into Education

Substantial EU funding is being directed toward AR/VR education tools, with €4.6 million recently provided to build a new educational platform. This is a massive opportunity for schools and universities to adopt immersive learning technologies that were previously out of budget.

4. A Major Shift in Focus

Use cases are diversifying rapidly. It’s no longer solely about VR Training for enterprise. Sectors like Arcades, Defense Tech, Entertainment, and LBE (Location-Based Experiences) are getting mass-market ready.

Innovation Recognized on the Global Stage

Speaking of mass-market readiness, we at Amlogy are proud to be at the forefront of this shift. Last year, our commitment to accessible, impactful XR was recognized when our project „HowARd“ won the prestigious Auggie Award for „Best in Show Playground“ at AWE EU 2024.

The HowARd Cube, developed with proHolz Steiermark, is a prime example of how XR Trends 2025 are manifesting in real life. It turns a simple physical cube into a magical, educational AR experience that explains the forest ecosystem. It’s simple, scalable, and solves a real educational need—proving that the best XR solutions are often the ones that feel like magic, not just technology.

Partnerships Shaping the Future

Innovation doesn’t happen in a silo. At UnitedXR, we spent hours with our long-term partner ARLOOPA and its Co-Founder ARman Atoyan, discussing new solutions and tools which were truly inspiring.

We also have a major announcement coming soon: A new partnership for visualizing buildings with BIM and CAD is on its way! I can’t reveal too much yet, but stay tuned – we will showcase very soon what the possibilities are for the architecture and construction industries.

It was also a pleasure to meet up with the community and the companies behind XR Austria, such as vrisch, immeria, VR Giants, and many more.

How Amlogy Can Help You Navigate XR Trends 2025

The „Big Race“ for adoption is here. VR headsets are hitting critical adoption mass (>30%), and smart glasses are currently around 15%. If you are an educational institution looking to secure EU funding, or a brand wanting to „go all in“ on AR marketing like Snap Inc., you need a partner who understands this landscape.

We at Amlogy are ready to support any idea and bring it to life together! Whether you need advice on the latest hardware, a partner for a funded educational project, or a custom XR campaign, we have the track record to make it happen.
